A brief meeting was already conducted with the SFFI SOCCSKSARGEN and BARMM Regional Presidents on November 17, 2020 at SFFI Office, to discuss initial arrangement on the regional rollout cum consultation meetings in their respective areas to include participants from the DENR, (upland) people’s organizations, civil society organizations, member/s of the House of Representatives and Senate, and other key stakeholders.
The SMDC was hired on December 1, 2020 following screening process. Immediately, the social media domain (www.sffi.orh.ph) was reviewed and recommendations were discussed by the SMDC to the Project Team. As a result, the layout enhancement is continuing (See Annex 19) enabling quick visibility of updates especially posting of accomplishments and news articles (See Annex 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 & 25). The SMDC also joins SFFI field activities when deemed necessary and practical.
The SFM advocacy activities and updates on the passage of the SFM Bill) were posted in the SFFI Website and in the SFFI social media account (FB). To date six materials have been posted in the Facebook account (www.facebook.com/sffi.org.ph) that already has 3,909 followers (See Annex 26). These have been providing healthy interactions with fellow foresters and other followers of the SFFI social media account, and provided the PMT feedbacks on accomplishments and updates posted.
In lieu of the annual National Conference, the SFFI conducted the six-part webinar series themed Forest Trek: A Deep Search into the Forest for the Nation’s Recovery, with cooperation with the FAO-EU-FLEGT Programme. Webinar topics were recommended, discussed, and agreed during Project Team discussions and are deemed “essential” to implementing SFM in case the law is paased.
Given the modified arrangement on the conduct of the Cost-Benefit Analysis of the SFM Bill, the SFFI’s PMT informed Dr. Margaret Calderon and Dr. Canesio Predo on the acceptance of their offered assistance with budget PhP300,000 for 60 person-days. Said experts/resource persons submitted their proposed Work Plan January 14, 2021 after two meetings and email exchanges on related matters and documents.
