The Communication plan was prepared and agreed by the SFFI Project Team and National Council employing various communication channels/media to be used under the Project.
Using information highlights from the House Bill No. 9088, the SFM leaflet was designed, reproduced, and circulated. Said leaflet containing the gist of the SFM concept and the Bill, was used as guide in discussions pertaining to the proposed legislation, its importance, and benefits. Said leaflets were also utilized by SFFI Chapters and Regional Councils as well as other fellow Foresters and stakeholders in communicating SFM with their local legislators and community organizations.
This activity was not conducted given that the amount budgeted is relatively insufficient as compared with current television airing rates. Hence, budget was reprogrammed for FB boosting as approved by the FAO-EU-FLEGT Programme.
Considered as a pioneering textbook on SFM in the Philippines, the SFFI reproduced and circulated the Sustainable Forest Management Book that was authored by one of the pillars of Philippine Forestry Dr. Adolfo Revilla Jr. With limited copies, only legislators, key DENR officials, and community leaders were provided with the said book.
Immediately after every roll-out activity and related events, SFFI Regional Councils would release articles/or avail radio guestings to communicate in their locality the importance of enacting the SFM Bill. For the Project, articles were released and published in Puerto Princesa City (Palawan), Legazpi City (Albay), Iloilo City (Iloilo), and Davao City (Davao). Other areas such as San Fernando City (Pampanga), City of San Fernando (La Union), and Quezon City (Metro Manila) have had key DENR Officials as respondents in media interviews.
The SFFI has accomplished the design, population, and launching of the SFFI website that highlights the SFM. This platform is currently serving as the online medium for disseminating information on SFM, related activities, and updates on the Bill. The Project Team is currently maintaining the website even after Project term has ended as its commitment in continuing advocacies on sustainable forest management. The website was launched in October 2018 during the SFFI National Conference and is linked with various social media account (Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube).
