Face to Face + Leganes Integrated Katunggan Ecopark (LIKE) Field Visit

The Leganes Integrated Katunggan Ecopark (LIKE) was a former fishpond and was abandoned after typhoon Frank devastated the area in 2008. It was then ‘surrendered’ to the LGU, and in partnership with various stakeholders, and with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) Philippines, an international scientific, conservation, and educational charity, the area was restored into a mangrove forest through Community-based Mangrove Rehabilitation Project. The site has now expanded to a total area of 15 hectares. Through years, the community demonstrated institutional and environmental mechanisms used in the restoration of the mangrove area and good mangrove ecosystem management and conservation practices.
